Lock in your makeup with this amazing setting spray! This is what I definitely need to remove the “cakeyness” in my foundation routine. And this blog is talking about NYX Professional Makeup’s Matte Finish Makeup Setting Spray. So what is a setting spray? Well Setting sprays (also finishing spray, makeup setting spray, finish spray, or makeup spray) is a cosmetic product designed to preserve applied make-up long periods of time. Usually sold in small spray bottles, setting spray is applied by spritzing mist over the face, keeping the make-up application moist for several hours.
NYX PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP Matte Finish Makeup Setting Spray
This product claims to increase the longevity of your makeup on your face. This long lasting formula grants a matte finish. I purchased mine in at target for $8.
It comes in a acrylic bottle with a spray pump that creates a mist to evenly distribute the product on the face.It weights 2.02 oz. The mist of this product does not leave uneven specs of liquid, it releases the product finely that it gently covers the face with every mist. I use two to three pumps for each side of my face atleast six to eight inches away from my face. You want to give your entire face an even misting, so don’t spray it closely. Then I let the spray dry on my face naturally. I have oily to combination skin so I wish this product would keep my oils at bay.
- Application of mist is light.
- No scent.
- Reduced cakey’ness’ or powder effect of foundation.
- Dewy finish.
- Makes my makeup stay put.
- Lightweight, I don’t notice it on my face.
- Keep my makeup on for hours.
- Does not keep face matte
- Creates more shine on my T-zone through out the day
I would recommend this for normal to dry skin types, not for oily. At first it would give a matte finish, but I noticed as soon as it dried up, it gave out a dewy finish. As for the claims for a matte finish,it did not control my oily face especially on my T-zone. I think this would be perfect for removing the “cakeyness” of my makeup but not for the matte properties. Overall I would give this setting spray a 7/10. It reduced the cakey look of my foundation which is a plus and keeps my makeup on. It gets the job done but it didn’t keep my face “matte” which was the main claim of the product itself.
