Battle of the Bronzers Butter VS Hoola

A bronzer is a cosmetic applied to the skin to simulate a sun tan. It perhaps diminishes the paleness after applying foundation to give life! If your familiar with the white cast effect.
It’s a great way to add a glow to the face. Preferably I would choose a bronzer with minimal to no shimmer at all. If you like those types of bronzer, I would highly recommend trying out the Benefit hoola bronzer or the Physicians Formula butter bronzer. This is to compare two of the most raved about bronzers by make up gurus and find out what worked for me and hopefully would work for you.

PACKAGING:
Both had mirrors although the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer had a decent sized one compared to Benefit Hoola Bronzer. On the other hand, Hoola had a contour like brush applicator which works well in applying the product precisely unlike the butter bronzer which had a sponge like green colored applicator which I tossed out by the way because it did nothing for me.

The Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer had a  warm light brown pigment. Upon application, the color pay off was unnoticeable for me.I also tried building up the product but still it did not come off as a bronzer, more like a face powder because it was too warm and light. I also noticed that it smelled like coconut oil and it had a silky finish. In reference of skin tone, I have yellow undertones. 0.38 oz of product.

The Benefit Hoola Bronzer had a true brown color pay off. It was quite powdery and had a lot of fall outs. What I loved about this formulation is that it did not give me an orangey color. It had a natural glow effect on my face. A little dab or swirl would give a decent amount of color. 0.14oz of product.

SWATCHES:
The Physicians Formula had a lighter tone compared to the Benefit Hoola Bronzer.

The Verdict:

Both bronzers had much to say but I would give this battle round to Benefits Hoola Bronzer for the following reasons:

  • Color pay off was great
  • No shimmer
  • A little amount goes a long way despite fall outs
  • Brush applicator was precise, very useful

What would you guys choose? Team Hoola or Team Butter?

  1. I find bronzers so difficult. I have SUCH pale skin so a lot of them come up orange on me. I’ve used hoola for a long time now and I love that it’s matte but sometimes I still feel that it’s a little orange on me if I try to build it. I’d be intrigued to try the butter bronzer if it’s slightly lighter. I wish there was a really ashybronzer out there that was specifically for sculpting very pale skin… anyway, great post 🙂
